Methodology

How the Index is built

The Moconvo Index assesses how technology services & AI consulting firms position themselves in public (via thought leadership, owned IP and more), then scores that positioning on six anchored scales. Scores are LLM-first assessments of how a firm presents itself, not claims about the quality of its work. We refresh this Index monthly.
Positioning, not claims
A score reflects what a firm says about itself in public, assessed the way a buyer would see it. A low score is a statement about the public footprint, not a judgment of the underlying work.
Evidence bound
Each score is derfived from a generic understanding of the market combined with our own understanding of the firm based purely on data available at the time of scraping. This has limitations.
Estimates and confidence
While all assessment is grounded in company-specific, factual data and intel, it is LLM-driven and based on scraped content, which has major limitations. In the future we intend to combine elements of our assessment with human auditing. Use this for reference only.

The six scales

Each dimension is scored from 1 to 10 against a published anchor, then grouped into five bands so the field is easy to scan at a glance.

Q1. AI-first

How central AI is to the firm's positioning, from a passing mention to the core of the offer, read from AI services, owned AI IP, AI hot-words, and AI partners.

Q2. Consultative partner

Whether the firm presents as a strategic, outcomes-led partner rather than staff augmentation or pure build-to-spec.

Q3. Clear differentiator

Whether there is a sharp, specific, plain-spoken reason to choose this firm, rather than generic category language.

Q4. Thought leadership

The presence and substance of published insight: articles, reports, and talks that carry a real point of view.

Q5. Industry specialization

The depth of named industry focus and sector proof, versus a generalist stance.

Q6. Technology-forward, owns IP

Whether the firm surfaces owned platforms, frameworks, accelerators, models, or tools that plausibly drive delivery, weighted by substantiveness.

Refresh cadence

The Index refreshes on a monthly cycle. Each profile shows the cycle it was last assessed in, and once two or more cycles exist, the Index shows what moved between them. Historical cycles stay addressable, so the record is longitudinal by design.

Right of reply

A profiled firm that believes a score or tag misjudges its public positioning can write to us. We review the evidence and correct the record where the evidence supports it, with a note in the change history. Reach the team at index@moconvo.com.
